IH121 - IH Certificate in Teaching One to One

WHO IS IT FOR?

  • Qualified, experienced teachers wanting specific 1-2-1 training
  • Newly-qualified teachers who will be teaching 1-2-1


COURSE OBJECTIVES

To prepare teachers for working in a 1-2-1 teaching context, focussing on the main issues and techniques involved.


COURSE CONTENT

10 modules. Each module contains three separate sessions which are a mixture of input, reflection on experience and discussion. The modules focus on some of the following areas: first contact, course design, materials and approaches, written and spoken reformulation, learner training and projects.


STRUCTURE AND ASSESSMENT

The course is run entirely online by qualified tutors. Assessment is based on an end of course portfolio, including homework tasks and a course plan for a 1-2-1 course.

 

TIME COMMITMENT

50 hours spread over 10-12 weeks, consisting of 30 hours of input through online modules, plus 20 hours of homework. Participants spend a minimum of 7 hours per week online and doing tasks.



HOW TO APPLY

Firstly, to be considered you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants need to be qualified teachers with at least one year's full-time experience.
  • Applicants require regular / daily access to the internet with a good connection.
  • Applicants need to be able to dedicate 50 hours to the course during an ten week period.
  • 5th November 2016 – 28th February 2017 (plus a further 2 weeks to complete the assessed portfolio).

Secondly, you need to complete the application form and email, post or fax it to us.  If your initial application is successful then you will be invited for interview.  In some cases we may request additional information before your application can be considered further.  Overseas applicants will be interviewed by Skype. 

Successful candidates will receive a formal acceptance email, together with details for payment.  We can only reserve places on courses for applicants who have made an initial deposit.  Full payment must be made four weeks before the course starts.
